Photojournalism student, tv watcher, dog lover, etc.

In early September I went down to Picton for the Prince Edward County Gravity Fest. I made this video for a class assignment.

In September I went with a few classmates to photograph the Peterborough Pride Parade. It was a great time. So many happy people and a lot of great dogs.

This summer my friend Rob planned a ridiculous pupcrawl that went to every bar in Charlottetown. Despite finishing a university degree I had never gone on a pubcrawl before, so I figured I had to do it. Some funny/terrible photos came out of it.

This summer I got hired to be the official photographer at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival. To be honest, I’ve always disliked country music, but I have to admit I’ve never seen a bigger, more dedicated crowd of fans in my entire life. I had a blast taking photos and I can’t wait to do it again.

Had a great time photographing this family over the summer. Ian and Susan were sweet and their dog Sunny was the best.

Boston was the last place we stopped on our adventure. It was a nice city. I would have been great to stay longer but we wanted to get home.

We hadn’t planned on heading to Connecticut, but while we were in New York we got invited by a couple in Cobalt to stay the night and we couldn’t pass it up. He mentioned Kayaks and Bikes and dogs in his invite. We weren’t saying no to that. The place was beautiful. We went biking in a state park (forgot my memory card, woops), watched Mystic Pizza, had a delicious homecooked meal and icecream, went out for breakfast at a cool diner, and went Kayaking in the Connecticut River. It was a jam packed day and a half, but it was also very relaxing. I also took Alexis to Ikea for the first time, she bought flower pots for 49cents. She told me to make sure I mentioned how great of a deal she got on those flower pots. She is incredibly excited. I think it was the highlight of the trip for her so far. Also, she is very pretty. Also she dictated that last bit.

This morning we got up bright and early to get to 30 Rockefeller to get standby tickets for the Jimmy Fallon show. We got tickets, number 15 and 16 and were told we had a good chance of getting in. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Turns out AMY POEHLER was on the show so everyone with actual tickets showed up and the 150 people with standby tickets didn’t get in. The day wasn’t a complete bust though, we spent a whole bunch of hours in the Museum of Modern Art, which was really great. Lots of famous paintings and artists we had never heard of before. We also checked out the public library and watched Ghostbusters before bed.  I ain’t afraid of no ghosts.

Today we moved from Lee’s apartment to our next couchsurfer’s place. The next place was just down the street and it was full of three amazing puppeteers named Mindy, Ellie, and Jamie. They just recently got back from traveling around Europe performing and entertaining strangers on the street. Check out their blog at http://www.maniacalworks.com/.  After getting situated we headed to Manhattan to check out May Day. It was hot, sweaty, and loud so we didn’t stick around very long. Then we made our way to the Bronx with our Yankees shirts and facepaint (we were the only ones with facepaint) to watch some baseball. The Yankees got destroyed, but we had a lot of fun and ate a lot of disgusting, overpriced food.

Today was our first full day in New York. We picked up some bread and cheese and headed to Central Park to hang out and look at dogs and turtles. We ended up exploring the place for three hours before heading to Time Square to check out the ridiculous sights. It was pretty awesome. We went to Rockefeller Center to check out NBC, bought some Community merch, and wimped out on paying for the tour. Afterward we got four slices of pizza and a pop for $4.75 and occupied the Wall St area for a bit before taking the Staten Island Ferry over and back to Manhattan. It was free, the same can’t be said for anything else in this city though. Not even the 9/11 memorial. Ugh.

Philadelphia was beautiful. It was the easiest city to walk around; we easily walked 20km while we were there. Highlights were definitely the zoo and the Muttermuseum. We watched Rocky on our last night there to celebrate.

New York has been pretty fantastic so far. We are staying with some couchsurfers in Brooklyn. They have an adorable pitbull mix named Arthur. On our first night here there was a fire right across the street. It wasn’t too big, but it ended up destroying the first floor of an apartment building. When we were parking earlier in the day we made sure to not block the fire hydrant, you know, just incase. Yeah, good call.

On our last morning in Washington Frank brought us to Great Falls Park, Maryland. to see some cool waterfalls, then we took off for Philadelphia. We arrived in Philly early in the evening and spent the night walking around before heading to our next couchsurfer’s place. The next morning we went to the Reading Terminal market to get some delicious snacks. I got the biggest pickle I’ve ever seen. Photoshop away my friends.

Our second full day in Washington was much like our first. Crazy busy. We checked out the Air and Space Museum, the Capitol Building, the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery. Afterwards we finished the night off with a delicious home cooked meal with our host Frank, followed by Just Dance and the Exorcist.
